    Frequently asked questions

How do I create an email template in Gmail with Lumenbase?

Open a new email or a reply in Gmail with the Lumenbase extension connected. Click Message templates next to Send, then New template. Give it a name, write the message, add variables with Insert variable, and click Save.

Which variables can I use in a message template?

The Lumenbase merge fields for the recipient and you: Contact first name, last name, full name, job title and email; Company name, industry, city, country and website; your first and full name; and your workspace name. They are written like {{ contact.first_name }}. Insert variable picks them from a list.

Can I share message templates with my team?

Yes. Save the template, click the sharing button next to its name, and pick Shared with some to name people, teams or roles as Viewer or Editor, or Fully Shared for everyone in the workspace who can see contacts. Only the owner can change sharing on Private or Shared with some templates. Workspace admins can also manage Fully Shared templates.

What happens if a contact has no value for a variable?

The variable is left out of the text, and the preview lists it under Empty for this recipient before you insert. Fill the field on the contact in Lumenbase, or edit the email before you send it.

Why did Draft with Lumo say there is no useful next message?

Lumo read the thread and decided nothing needs sending right now, for example because the other person already has what they asked for. Nothing went wrong. Write your own reply, or use a template.
