What Are Tasks?
Tasks are the execution layer of Lumenbase. They turn strategy into concrete, assigned next actions: calls, follow-ups, research, prep work, and operational checklists.
Tasks connect directly to pipeline and relationship work, so follow-through is visible and measurable.
A pipeline without tasks is intent without execution. Use tasks to make momentum explicit.
Task Structure
| Attribute | Purpose | Best practice |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Who is responsible | Always assign one clear owner |
| Status | Execution state | Keep status updated in real time |
| Due date | Time boundary | Avoid undated tasks for critical work |
| Priority | Relative urgency | Reserve high priority for true blockers |
| Linked record | Context anchor | Attach to company/contact/deal when possible |
How Tasks Are Used in the App
Daily execution
- Tasks surface actionable follow-ups in the Feed.
- Sort by overdue and due-today to prioritize.
- Build a shared execution cadence across reps and managers.
Automation and repeatability
- Create tasks manually, or let automations create them from trigger events.
- Routine and runlist workflows generate standardized task sequences.
- Consistent task completion makes your operations more predictable.
Task Workflow
- Create task with clear title, owner, and due date.
- Link it to the relevant company/contact/deal.
- Set status as work progresses (pending → in progress → completed).
- Log outcome notes when done to preserve context.
- Review overdue tasks weekly and re-plan where needed.
Pair task execution with Routine so recurring workflows stay consistent across team members.
